Police have arrested a Jewish man who was wanted for a string of anti-Semitic hate crimes

The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force tracked down David Haddad, 56, after several complaints were made - one by a relative and at least one other by a person known to him - for harassing them by phone and scribbling anti-Semitic symbols on apartment doors. "Knowing someone put swastikas and derogatory messages on my door makes me sick," said Susan Levin, who lives down the hall from Haddad, who wrote “All Jews Should Die” on her front door. A neighbor called the police after spotting five out of eight doors on the floor where Haddad lives scribbled with swastikas and anti-Semitic messages. Haddad was arrested after the task force traced at least one of his phone calls. He was charged with aggravated harassment as a hate crime. The bias criminal first struck on December 11, 2011 around noon when he repeatedly called an 80-year-old Brooklyn woman at her home and threatened her while spouting anti—Semitic epithets. On January 10, 2012 Haddad called a woman and threatened her in her Chelsea apartment building, where police found racist graffiti on five apartment doors and along the hallway of the residence. Over the next two days, Haddad preyed on an 87-year-old Chelsea woman and a 78-year-old Brooklyn woman, subjecting them to anti—Semitic threats over the phone and on a voicemail message. Sara Scovronick, 33, who also received hateful notes on her door, said that she's glad Haddad has been arrested.
