A black man faces a maximum 76 years in prison after being convicted of having sexual conduct with a now 17-year-old girl in April and May of 2010

A seven-woman, five-man jury deliberated just over 90 minutes before finding Randy L. Scott, 35, guilty of all 13 counts. The charges included four counts each of rape, sexual battery and gross sexual imposition and one count of kidnapping with a sexual motivation specification. Assistant Prosecutor Gary Bishop said that good forensic work by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification led to the conviction. A pair of state forensic scientists testified that DNA evidence found on the victim's underwear and on a towel matched that of control samples taken from Scott. Both witnesses indicated that it was extremely unlikely the DNA was from someone else.
