Black man kills his mother and puts her head in a bag

A black man was charged with murder after his mother was found dead in her Northwest Jacksonville home and her head was found in a bag a few blocks away. Officers said family members found the body of 43-year-old Jennifer Ling in her home in the 1500 block of West Sixth Street. A short time later, the victim's head was found in a plastic bag in a field on the other side of Kings Road. Police said witnesses reported seeing Jumar Henry carry that bag away from the house. Lt. Larry Schmitt said that Henry, along with other family members, were brought to the sheriff's office for questioning, but when he learned he was not going to be allowed to leave, he attempted to break out of the homicide office and had to be restrained. Officers said Henry's resistance resulted in an additional charge of battery on a law enforcement officer. He is being held without bond in the Duval County jail. Schmitt said police believe the homicide occurred during an altercation and the murder weapon was a steak knife Henry found in the house. Officers said that after the slaying, Henry went to visit his father, then went to church, where people noticed scratches on his face and blood under his fingernails and called police.
