A Muslim rights group has launched a legal appeal against the continued detention of radical Jamaican preacher Abdullah al-Faisal

The Muslim Human Rights Forum wants to block Faisal's deportation and says he should be produced before the courts. Kenya tried to deport him but Nigeria sent him back after airlines refused to allow him on board. Faisal, in custody since his return, was convicted of soliciting the murder of Jews and Hindus in Britain in 2003. He was deported from Britain in 2007 after spending four years in jail. The British government said one of the 7 July London suicide bombers, Germaine Lindsay, was heavily influenced by the cleric, while shoe bomber Richard Reid is said to have visited mosques where he preached in Britain.
